ADCNR-MRD Alabama Oyster Management Program - Scuba Quadrat Dive Survey Data (1971-present)

Dataset extent

Within the boundaries of known oyster reef footprints in coastal Alabama waters, sample sites are randomly chosen by deploying a 300-foot transect line in a random direction, with 10 randomly spaced 1-square-yard quadrat points along the line. All oysters and oyster material within each quadrat are collected and counted, and live oysters are measured for height. Up to three 300-foot transects may be deployed in one continuous line. Data also include temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen collected at each transect.
