Abundance and distribution of bonnethead sharks and other species captured by gillnet near Dauphin Island, Alabama, in 2010-2012

As part of a study to understand the feeding ecology of bonnethead sharks (Sphyrna tiburo) in the northern Gulf of Mexico, gillnets were deployed in 2010-2012 at locations near Dauphin Island, Alabama, where bonnetheads are known to forage. All captured elasmobranchs and teleosts were enumerated and identified to species. For bonnetheads, morphometrics were taken and weight (kg) and sex (maturity level notes for males) were recorded. Other species were measured, weighed, and sexed if time permitted.
