DISL Fisheries Ecology Lab: Fishery Independent Survey - Bottom Longline (2010-present)

Dataset extent

Catch data from bottom longline sampling off the coast of Alabama in the artificial reef permit zone. Sampling periods are determined based on the red snapper season, with one period pre-season (March) and one period post-season (August-November). In 2010-2012, a third sampling period occurred one week prior to the season start date (May). Sampling effort is allocated proportionally among three depth ranges: shallow 60-120ft, mid 120-180 ft, and deep 180-300ft. Captured fish are identified to lowest possible taxon, measured for length, and weighed when possible. Temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen data are also collected during longline soak time.
