In 2004 Compass Port LLC (Compass Port) and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL), in consultation with NOAA, developed a research plan to assess the possible ecological impacts of the proposed Compass Port liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in lease block MO910, approximately 18 km south of Dauphin Island. As part of the overall baseline survey, a mooring was established at 30 05.410'N 88 12.694'W to collect time-series hydrographic and current data. Instruments included a vertical array of thermisters, CTDs at surface and bottom, and an ADCP at the bottom. Temperature, salinity, density, depth, and current velocity data were collected at 20-minute intervals from 2004 to 2006. Other parameters, such as dissolved oxygen, are available for portions of the time series beginning 20050215.
