Long-term Ecosystem Dynamics in Coastal Lagoons of Perdido Bay, Florida: Water Column and Benthic Metabolism (2000-present)

Dataset extent

Dissolved oxygen data from field experiments conducted in three lagoonal environments in Perdido Bay, Florida, on a bimonthly basis since December 2001. For each experiment, pairs of enclosed chambers were placed over areas of either seagrass or bare sediment, where one chamber was clear acrylic and the other dark. In addition, clear and dark Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) bottles were filled with water from mid water column. Chambers and bottles were incubated for a four-hour period including solar noon. Dissolved oxygen concentration was measured at the beginning and end of each experiment. Net primary production, respiration, and gross primary production were calculated.
