Dauphin Island Sea Lab Weather Station 1974-1997

Dataset extent

The DISL Weather Station collected twice daily meteorological observations at the east end of Dauphin Island, Alabama (30 degrees 14' 57" N, 88 degrees 04' 38" W) from 1974 to 1997. Data include air temperature, water surface temperature, barometric pressure, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, cloud cover, and weather conditions. Relative humidity, visibility, and wave height estimates were added in 1981. Wind speed and direction were also continuously measured with a Bendix-Friez Aerovane Model 141-8 strip chart recording anemometer; the digitized data are hourly. Barometric pressure was also recorded by a strip chart microbarograph.
